Rain ruins Squirrels' July 4th

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -  Thunder ruined the Flying Squirrels' Independence Day festivities, but it wasn't the other team in the dugout.  Richmond's game against the Trenton Thunder was suspended due to heavy rain in the area of The Diamond on Monday night.  The game was suspended in the bottom of the second inning, with the Thunder leading 1-0.  Monday's game will resume on Tuesday night at The Diamond at 5:00 PM, and will be played through nine innings.  An abbreviated seven-inning game will follow, serving as the second game in the series. Fireworks will follow the second game.

Fans holding tickets for Monday's suspended game may redeem them at the Flying Squirrels' Box Office for vouchers to any remaining 2011 regular season home game, including Tuesday night's game.  Tickets can be redeemed based upon availability.  Tickets for Tuesday night's game will still be valid only for Tuesday night.
