Downtown Richmond's first firework show in years

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Fireworks crews were calling Sunday night's show "thirty minutes of solid power" and that's exactly what people saw. People came in droves to the James to see the first downtown fireworks in years. Many like Steve Wistron say they had high expectations and the show didn't disappoint.

"This has actually been the best," Wistron said.  "They said it was going to be the state's largest and I had to come. I went to watch Dogwood Dell last year but this just didn't compare. This was so much more awesome."

Some high profile fireworks crews put on the show. You may have seen Grucci Fireworks' shows during presidential inaugurations, the New York fourth of July fireworks as well as the Washington D.C. fireworks.

The annual fireworks at Dogwood Dell are scheduled for Monday night, just in case you missed Sunday's show downtown but still want to get your fireworks fix.
