LOUISA, VA (WWBT) – We've uncovered a disturbing story in a quiet rural community. A man was nearly beaten to death by a mob. The Louisa County Sheriff's Office said the 46-year old victim was lured to a house on Kinneytown Road in Mineral where he was almost killed.
This horrifying beating was almost two weeks ago on Father's Day and still Steve Minor remains at UVA Medical Center in serious condition.
Minor may never fully recover from his beating injuries. His cousin can't quite comprehend that prospect.
"How could anybody do a human being like this," he asked.
Right now, at least two other lives have been forever changed. Just this week, 33-year old Chad Tinsley and 31-year old Jason McDonald were arrested on several charges including aggravated malicious wounding, malicious wounding by a mob and abduction.
According to authorities, a previous argument escalated on Father's Day. The call came into the Louisa Sheriff's Office as a fight.
We've learned Tinsley allegedly tricked Minor into coming to a vacant home his family owns. In the yard, a group of men described as a mob beat him. Deputies found the 46-year old clinging to life.
"I think they broke his jaw, broke his collar bone and he had to have surgery on his head," his cousin told NBC12.
One police source described Tinsley as very dangerous.
Neighbors explain Minor and the suspect knew each other well. At this point, though, detectives will not release a motive.
"I just hope that Chad and everyone that did what they did to Steven get their just desserts," his cousin said.
Police are still looking for 41-year old Kelly Lynn Goins, who is also from Kinneytown Road. They say a juvenile is wanted in the case, as well.
