Gas leak shuts down Tredegar Street downtown

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond fire units are working on a gas leak in the area of Tredegar and 5th streets in downtown Richmond.

This will effect traffic in that area. Richmond Police have closed off Tredegar Street between 5th and 7th streets.

Crews working on the road struck the gas line at about 7:42 a.m. Friday morning. A second call was made at 8:05 a.m. The Richmond Fire department said it was a large leak and that gas has been shut off for the area.  The repairs should take all day to fix

The Meadwestvaco building could be without gas all day today, and maybe into the weekend, according to fire officials.
