RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The week after the final four, Shaka Smart was targeted by North Carolina state for their head coaching position.

But Athletic Director Norwood Teague was able to keep him out of the ACC's hands by offering him a huge contract that has a number of bonuses that could make it even bigger.

According to the Washington Times, Smart officially signed the contract Monday, for 8 years, and it's worth nearly $1.2 million annually.

The base salary is less than a half million, but there's $700,000 of supplemental income.

There are a number of bonuses that could help him earn more money.

He could earn $3,500 for winning their conference title.

And $2,000 for beating the Richmond Spiders in the black and blue classic.

The contract also provides a $10,000 clothing allowance, and a university car.
