Bus driver's wife speaks out on crash

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Kin Yiu Cheung is charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter.

He was driving a Sky Express bus that crashed killing four and injuring dozens of others.

According to an interview with the Richmond Times Dispatch, Cheung's wife, Qun Lin says her husband had only just started driving the route from Charlotte to New York, and was not even given 24 hours off before he was asked to take another bus load of people to Chinatown.

Court documents show Cheung finished work at 5:45 a.m. On May 30th, then drove again early the next morning.

Lin says her husband wasn't used to driving overnight yet, but he didn't want to lose his job, so he said yes, when his supervisor asked him to drive again.

Cheung had been working as a bus driver for a year and normally drove from Charlotte to Greensboro during the day.

After the crash, Cheung admitted to state police that he was tired and dozed off.

Passengers told investigators that they saw him drink several cups of coffee and red bulls.
