Rain suspends Squirrels vs. Sens

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - All the Flying Squirrels and Senators could get in was a half inning Tuesday night. Mother nature wouldn't even let Richmond get up to bat. The game was suspended due to severe thunderstorms, and ultimately, unplayable grounds.

Justin Fitzgerald pitched a perfect one-third of an inning, striking out two.

The game, which was scoreless, will resume on Wednesday night at 7:05 PM in the bottom of the first inning.  RHP Daryl Maday (2-5, 3.75) will take over on the hill for the Squirrels against RHP Brad Peacock (8-2, 2.28) for the Senators.  The scheduled third game of the series will be made up at The Diamond on Friday, July 22nd as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning ballgames.

Squirrels are in second place in the Eastern League Western Division - three games behind Harrisburg.

Fans holding tickets for Tuesday night's suspended game can redeem them for tickets to Wednesday's night completion or for any remaining regular season game in the 2011 season based upon availability.
