Identities released in deadly Chester domestic incident

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - New information on the domestic shooting in Chesterfield, which may be a case of attempted murder-suicide.

According to the search warrant affidavit for the home in the 11200 block of Heathstead Road, an officer went to the house Sunday morning at about 10 a.m. for a disturbance call about a woman with a head wound.

Police officers found Tammy B. Ginyard, 38, who had been shot and was lying in the living room. She couldn't talk, but pointed upstairs. The officer found a man dead in an upstairs bedroom along with a gun.

The man has been identified as John S. Miller III, 44, who had been shot and was lying dead in an upstairs bedroom from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot.

Investigators recovered a .38 revolver, ammunition, and two cell phones.

Ginyard was transported to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  Ginyard remains at the VCU Medical Center receiving treatment at this time.

Police are awaiting the results of the autopsy and forensic evaluations in order to complete their investigation.
