Details of the crash that killed a trooper

KING GEORGE, VA (WWBT) - 28-year old trooper Adam Bowen was killed in a crash in King George County while responding to a call Friday night.

Trooper Bowen collided with another car in the intersection of Route 3 and Madison Drive.

The impact forced the trooper's car into a pole splitting the car in half.

State police said the front end of the vehicle continued into a nearby parking lot where it hit three parked cars.

"Adam not only served at state, but also served the nation," Sgt. Thomas Molnar said. "He served overseas in Iraqi Freedom and he was due to get married next month. On behalf of Colonel Falarety and the Department of State Police we'd like to express our condolences to the Bowen family."

Preliminary reports show the other car was trying to make a left turn at the intersection when the crash happened.

Visitation will beTtuesday at 10:00 a.m.  at W & L High School in Montross.

Funeral services will follow at one.
