Two separate assaults leave woman stabbed, man's throat cut

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police are investigating a number of violent overnight assaults.

Around 10:15 Friday night, a man's throat was cut during a fight outside the James River Plaza building on Canal Street.

Police say he was arguing with one man when another came up behind him and cut his throat with a switch blade.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Anyone with information that could help police find the suspects is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

Police are also investigating a stabbing in the 3400 block of Jeff Davis Highway.

That assault occurred around 1:00 Saturday morning.

Investigators say a woman was stabbed several times by someone she knew.

Police have already made an arrest in this case and say it's likely a domestic dispute.

The suspects identity has not yet been released.

Police say the woman is expected to survive.
