HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - State police are in the middle of an investigation into a deadly motorcycle accident.
A 2007 Victory Motorcycle was traveling southbound on Interstate 295 in the center lane when the rider lost control of his motorcycle and overturned, according to Virginia State Police. The rider was ejected off the motorcycle and came to rest in the roadway and was struck by 2000 Chrysler 300.
The motorcycle rider, Steven D. Howell, 39, of Mechanicsville, died at the scene. Howell was wearing a safety helmet. The driver of the Chrysler, a 22 year-old male from Henrico, was wearing his safety belt and was not injured in the crash. He is not facing any charges.
Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the cause of the crash, according to state police. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours.
