RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Quick action by Richmond Police led to two arrests for setting fire to a vehicle yesterday. The department is now asking for the public's help to locate a third suspect.
Three men set fire to vehicle in the 2800 block of Pompey Springs Road [in South Richmond] shortly after midnight, Tuesday, June, 21. As they fled the scene in another vehicle they were stopped by a Richmond police officer a short distance away.
Two of the men, Ramon Ashawn Greene, 29, 3700 block of Angela Drive, Richmond and Calvin Kevin Hite, 43, 2500 block of Alfalfa Lane, Richmond, were detained at that time. Instruments of arson were recovered from the vehicle. Both men have been charged with arson, a felony, and remain in the Richmond City Jail.
The department is asking for help locating a third man who fled from the vehicle during the traffic stop. He is Michael Antonio Mitchell, 44, of the 1700 block of Maury Street, 6'2", 240 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous. Once he is captured, Mitchell will be charged with arson.
