Felony charges dropped in James River boating accident

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Prosecutors dropped the felony charges related to a boating accident on the James River.

Authorities say Christopher Parker, 32, drove a boat into a buoy during a bachelor party.  The New Kent man was originally charged with maiming.

Five of the boat's seven passengers were taken to the hospital. They have reportedly all recovered.

Parker will still stand trial August 11 on a misdemeanor charge of operating a boat while under the influence.
