Father's Day kiss leads to Henrico man's arrest

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A Henrico man is facing two charges following an incident that police say unfolded on Father's Day.

John T. Garvey, 52, of Wedgewood Avenue, is accused of taking indecent liberties with a child and marijuana possession.

Henrico Police responded to Garvey's house on June 19, just before midnight. Police say a 17-year-old girl reported that when she tried to give Garvey, her step-father, a kiss on the cheek for Father's Day, he began touching her on the rear and kissing her neck. She left the room, only to return when Garvey invited her to watch a movie, which turned out to be pornography, according to police.

Shortly thereafter, police say a third person, a male, observed Garvey standing in the kitchen with his pants and boxer shorts down to his ankles and knees, respectively.

Police say they later found Garvey in an upstairs bedroom in possession of marijuana.
