HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Sunburn is uncomfortable, but Dr. John Clay explains that the problem is much worse than that.
Too much sun could eventually lead to skin cancer, which is dangerous and deadly.
Melanoma is the second most common cancer among people 15 to 29. It's not just sun. The use of tanning beds can increase a person's risk of skin cancer by 75 percent.
A tan is the body's reaction to help protect itself from too much sunshine, or UV radiation. This can lead to premature skin changes and aging.
Make a conscious effort to apply sunscreen appropriately when outdoors and avoid tanning beds altogether.
