Kickers suffer first home defeat

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Kickers reached second place in the American Division of the USL Pro League by being unbeatable at home.  Through their first six games at City Stadium, Richmond was unbeaten, with only one tie. But Tuesday, a team called the City Islanders got all the home bounces, and left City Stadium with a win.

The Islanders got a goal from Jason Hotchkin in the extra time of the first half, and their defense and goalkeeper kept the Kickers off the scoreboard for a 1-0 Harrisburg victory.

Richmond certainly had their chances, capped by their best opportunity of the game in extra time of the second half.  They had a free kick from 20 yards outside the box, but a header from David Bulow went off the crossbar.

The Kickers are back in action Tuesday night at City Stadium at 7:00.
