Driver crashes into power pole overnight

MECHANICSVILLE, VA (WWBT) - An overnight crash shut down Mechanicsville Turnpike for a few hours.

It happened around 1:30 Friday morning at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue during strong thunderstorms.

A driver ran into a power pole knocking it off the base.

Richmond police are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.

Right now the pole is being held up by some power lines.

Crews will be out to fix that power pole.

No word yet on the condition of the driver.
