RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Viewers often ask why convenience stores are not usually mentioned in the Restaurant Report. I review the inspections of convenience stores every week. They usually get pretty good scores, so they don't make the critical list. But tonight, an inspection at a Fas Mart makes the list.

In Henrico, Fas Mart at 2650 New Market Rd. had five critical violations. The inspector wrote that meatloaf, chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetables were not kept hot enough.

Fas Mart sent us the following statement, "The company takes its health and safety responsibilities very seriously.  Since the inspection, we have worked diligently to correct the issues that were cited in the report.  We believe that we will pass our re-inspection with flying colors."

In Chesterfield, Chicken Fiesta at 7748 Midlothian Turnpike had four critical violations, including that a container of pinto beans was not being adequately cooled to prevent the growth of bacteria. The restaurant received critical violations for the same problem on two follow-up inspections. But it earned a perfect score on its next inspection. We contacted the restaurant but did not hear back.

In Richmond, McDonald's at 2011 Chamberlayne Ave. had four critical violations. The report says lexan pans, lids, and the iced coffee dispenser were soiled to sight and touch.  All violations were corrected on the spot.

Stop in the Station Café, located on Railroad Ave. in Ashland. You'll find coffee, hand dipped ice cream, and a very clean restaurant.  It's earned perfect scores on three of four inspections.
