Body found in car in Chesterfield identified

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County Police have identified the body discovered Monday afternoon in a parking lot at the Koger Center on Midlothian Turnpike.

Karen Campbell, 50, who police say has been reported as missing since June 3. She was last seen driving a 2001 maroon Nissan Altima registered to her daughter Amber.

The cause of death has not been determined and it most likely won't be determined anytime soon since additional tests might be needed, according to the medical examiner's office.

From a press release from Chesterfield Police:

Police have identified the body found in a car in the 10800 Midlothian Turnpike on June 13 as that of Karen L. Campbell, 50.

Campbell, of the 6900 block of Amster Road, was last seen driving a maroon, four door, 2001 Nissan Altima in the neighborhood near her home on June 3 at about 6 p.m.

On Monday, June 13, police were called to a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in the 10800 block of Midlothian Turnpike. A body was found in the vehicle, which was the vehicle Campbell was last seen operating.

The investigation into Campbell's death continues, but police do not suspect foul play.
