WIZARDS-BULLS

Wizards beat Bulls 101-99 in OT to take 2-0 lead

CHICAGO (AP) - Bradley Beal came on strong late in regulation to finish with 26 points, Nene scored six of his 17 in overtime and the Washington Wizards beat the Chicago Bulls 101-99 Tuesday to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round series.

Washington rallied from 10 down in the fourth quarter after blowing a 17-point first-quarter lead.

Nene scored the first six points in overtime after being held in check by Defensive Player of the Year Joakim Noah in regulation, and the Wizards hung on after Kirk Hinrich failed to convert at the foul line in the closing seconds.

ANGELS-NATIONALS

Pujols' 500th HR helps Angels beat Nationals 7-2

WASHINGTON (AP) - Albert Pujols became the first major leaguer to hit his 499th and 500th homers in the same game, driving in five runs to help the Los Angeles Angels beat the Washington Nationals 7-2 Tuesday night.

The first baseman connected twice off Taylor Jordan (0-3) - a three-run homer in the first inning and two-run drive in the fifth - to become the 26th player in major league history to reach the milestone.

Pujols is the first player to collect Nos. 499 and 500 in the same game, according to STATS. About three months past his 34th birthday, he's also the third-youngest to get to 500. He has eight homers this season, all in the past 13 games.

Tyler Skaggs (2-0) gave up two runs in seven innings for the win.

ORIOLES-BLUE JAYS

Orioles allow 3 homers, fall to Blue Jays, 9-3

TORONTO (AP) - Brett Lawrie and Melky Cabrera each hit three-run homers in the eighth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 9-3 Tuesday night.

Lawrie's drive off Evan Meek (0-1) snapped a 3-all tie in front of a sparse crowd of 14,866 at Rogers Centre. Cabrera connected for his fifth of the season off Josh Stinson, putting the Blue Jays in front, 9-3.

Esmil Rogers pitched a scoreless ninth for Toronto and reliever Steve Delabar (2-0) picked up the win to help the Blue Jays improve to 3-1 against the Orioles this season.

REDSKINS-SNYDER

Redskins' Snyder says team name is not an issue

STERLING, Va. (AP) - Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder says his team's nickname is not an issue and it's "time that people focus on reality" concerning these matters.

Snyder said Tuesday the Redskins did their homework - "unlike a lot of people" - when the team recently established a foundation to assist American Indian tribes.

Snyder spoke at a ceremony at which the Redskins donated one-tenth of the $1 million cost to refurbish a local high school sports field. It was the first time he had addressed the name controversy since establishing the foundation for Native Americans.

Snyder has insisted he will not change the team name despite assertions from Native Americans and others that it is offensive.

RALLYCROSS-PIQUET JR

Piquet Jr. to run Global Rallycross with SH Racing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Nelson Piquet Jr. will compete in the upcoming Global Rallycross season with new entrant SH Racing.

Piquet spent almost two full seasons in Formula One before moving to NASCAR in 2010.

SH Racing is owned by James Sullivan, a partner in IndyCar Series team KVSH Racing. The IndyCar team won the Indianapolis 500 last season with Tony Kanaan.

SH Racing was formed in 2010 initially competing in motocross, but first tried Global Rallycross in the 2013 X Games with driver Scott Speed.

The team will run the full season this year with Piquet driving the No. 07 Ford Fiesta ST. The car will be sponsored by N.O.-XPLODE in six of the 10 events, including the X Games in Austin, Texas.
