Press release from Hopewell Police Department
HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - On June 07, 2011 at approximately 1816 hours, officers of the Uniformed Patrol Division (UPD) responded to the 1700 block of City Point Rd. in reference to a Residential Burglary.
As a result, members of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) Taskforce initiated an investigation into the incident. Through investigation it was determined that between 0530 hours and 1810 hours (June 07, 2011), person(s) unknown, forced entry through the rear of the residence and removed a cache of assorted assault rifles, handguns and ammunition from an unsecured gun safe.
The Hopewell Police Department is encouraging citizens who were traveling in the area between the aforementioned times on June 07, 2011and observed any suspicious person(s) and/or vehicle(s) to contact the Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) at (804) 541-2284 or Lead Detective Richard Cloninger at (804) 541-6012.
