GLEN ALLEN, VA (WWBT) - The Deep Run boys soccer team did something the Wildcat girls could not do - get a victory on their home field Tuesday night to move on to the state semifinals.
The Deep Run boys used two goals from Todd Wharton to topple River Bend 3-1 on their home turf. The Wildcats move on to the state semifinals this Friday in Chantilly, VA. The Deep Run boys soccer team is looking for their second state championship in four years.
The game started almost an hour late, as it was preceded by the girls quarterfinal matchup. The previously undefeated Lady Wildcats lost on penalty kicks to Heritage, after being tied at 2-2 through regulation and overtimes. The Midlothian girls also lost, on the road at Battlefield 1-0.
