Richmond deputy sheriff fired after 'lengthy internal investigation'

RICHMOND, VA - Sheriff C.T. Woody, Jr. today reported the arrest and subsequent termination of a Richmond City Deputy Sheriff.

Daryl Jemar Johnson, 40, was arrested early today after a lengthy internal investigation by the Richmond City Sheriff's Office Investigations Unit. Johnson has been charged with conspiring to distribute a controlled substance inside of the Richmond City Jail. Johnson is being held under a $4,500 bond.

Based on the findings of the investigation, Johnson's employment with the Sheriff's Office was immediately terminated. No additional comments will be made by the Sheriff or his staff until after the case reaches its conclusion.
