LANCASTER, VA (WWBT) – The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is investigating a deadly boat accident on the Rappahannock River.

It happened just after 10:00 Friday evening near Windmill Point, where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay.

Investigators say a 37-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were in a Grady-White style boat when it struck a bulkhead.

The couple died at the scene.

Although the exact cause of the crash has yet to be determined, investigators say speed is a factor.

This is the same area in which Henrico school teacher Amanda Brady died last summer.

We've a crew on the scene and will have more details tonight at 6:00 p.m.
