Student charged for BB-gun incident at school

STAFFORD, VA – The Stafford County Sheriff's Office reports that a 17 year old male student from Brooke Point High School has had juvenile petitions placed against him for Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, Brandishing a Weapon and Unlawful Injury as a result of an incident that took place at Brooke Point High School this afternoon.

A School Resource Officer, on duty at Brooke Point High School, was summoned to a classroom this afternoon because of a report of a BB-Gun being shot in a classroom. When the deputy arrived on scene she was told by witnesses that a 17 year old male student was showing off a BB-Gun in the classroom when he shot a fellow student in the shoulder. The student who was shot by the BB-Gun was treated by the school nurse and returned to the classroom.  The student accused in this incident was taken into custody by the School Resource Officer, transported to Juvenile Detention Center where the juvenile petitions were placed against him.  The 17 year old male has been placed in the Rappahannock Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
