School bus driver swerved to avoid moped

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - New details about a Richmond City School bus crash that left the driver injured.

Police tell us the bus driver swerved to avoid a hitting a moped, and ended up smashing through a fence and into a parked truck.

The bus driver's granddaughter was on board, but was not hurt.

The moped driver, Timothy Godley, is accused of failing to yield.

He's been charged with reckless driving.

Jerry Styles saw the accident happen, "we heard an explosion saw the lights flickering a loud noise we came running out the lines blinking back and forth and sirens from a police car that pulled up the same time it happened."

No students were on the bus, which was headed to Armstrong High School, to pick up students for the ride home.
