CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Police have arrested a man who allegedly robbed the Village Bank branch at 11450 Robious Road this afternoon.

Police said the man, dressed as a woman, approached a teller just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, and passed a note demanding money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, leaving the scene in a silver Dodge Durango.

The vehicle and the suspect were soon spotted and stopped by police in the 9400 block of Iron Bridge Road. David Edward Whitfield, 41, and Stacie Denise Felton, 38, were taken into custody without incident. Felton acted as the driver, while Whitfield committed the robbery.

Both Whitfield, of the 10200 block of Beaver Bridge Road, and Felton, of Chesterfield, will be charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. The charges are in connection with today's incident and the robbery of the SunTrust bank branch at 2065 Huguenot Road on April 25.

Chesterfield police are working closely with surrounding jurisdictions to determine whether Whitfield is connected with cases in those jurisdictions.
