Teen driver in Three Chopt crash dies

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - An accident early Monday morning in Richmond's West End has lead to the death of the driver.

The driver, Jeffrey Meadows, 19, of Huntley Road in Henrico County has died, according to Richmond Police. The conditions of the other passengers remain the same.

The accident happened in the 6400 block of Three Chopt Road around 1 a.m. Police said the driver, along with another teenager under 18, were not wearing their seatbelts.

Two other teenagers under the age of 18 were in the car, too. Both of those teens were wearing a seatbelt and only have minor injuries.

Richmond Police tell us the driver of the Chevy Suburban lost control, spun around, and the SUV went airborne. Speed is likely a factor.
