City council pass 2012 budget

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond City Council passed a $657 million budget for the 2012 fiscal year.

The spending plan includes $124 million for schools, and council members say it's the leanest budget they've passed in years.

One cut that drew a lot of public comment was to the Fridays at Sunset concert series.

Funding was cut from $125,000 to $50,000.

The mayor pointed out that once again this year, there are no tax hikes, furloughs or layoffs.
