To put it simply, if you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. If you burn more calories than you eat, you will tend to drop weight.
One easy area to cut, liquids. Do not drink calories unless you absolutely have to.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther away than you need to, go for walks around the block a few times a week. Do not eat late at night as those calories are more likely to be stored as fat.
