Bee stings

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - Dr. James Bush is helping patients with bee stings at Colonial Heights Medical Center.

Pollen is out and bees are becoming more prominent in our yards.

It is important that if you are allergic, have someone else take care of looking for them and removing nests.

If you are stung by a bee, it is most important to remove the stinger as quickly as possible.  If you have a history of allergic reactions use your epipen if available.

For mild reactions benadryl can help reduce the reaction.  An ice pack to the area may also reduce the swelling.
