FUGITIVE FRIDAY: Search for Shannon Joe William Street

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Hanover County Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for this man, Shannon Joe William Street. Police say street used a telephone chat line to lure an underage teen girl.

"Gaining her trust, becoming her friend and making her feel comfortable with him," said Investigator Christopher Davis with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

Police say after numerous phone conversations the 30-year-old was able to convince the teen to meet him in person.

"Described himself as being younger than he actually is, met with the juvenile and engaged in sexual acts with her," said Davis.

The victim admits the sex was consensual but after revealing the affair to her parents the matter was brought to police.

"She is upset about what happened and she's concerned for the safety of other children in the community," he said.

He also has this warning for parents.

"I think parents are aware that there are dangers over the internet. But they also need to be aware that cellular phones, which most children have these days, can also be a danger. It's a medium these predators use to prey on their victims," Davis added.

Investigator Davis believes Street is still in the Richmond area. Attempts have been made to locate him but to no avail.

"He has an address that he supposedly stays at but only gets mail there," said Davis.

Investigators need your help in locating Shannon Street.

"These guys are out there trying to find the youth in the community to what some might call groom these children into trusting them...and they fall prey to these predators," Davis said.
