Man arrested after allegedly robbing Wachovia branch

Press release from Henrico Police

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - On May 20, 2011, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the suspect, later identified as Scott Sota, entered the Wachovia Bank located at 2420 Staples Mill Road.  Sota approached the victim's teller station and presented a demand note.  The teller complied and gave Sota an undisclosed amount of currency.  He fled the bank and was last seen by bank employees running in front of the bank.

A very alert citizen noticed Sota running from the bank, get into a waiting vehicle, and drive off in a reckless manner.  The citizen decided to follow the vehicle, record the license plate, and take a picture of the vehicle using her cell phone.  She then responded back to the bank and provided officers with this key information.  Based on registration information, officers conducted surveillance on the registered owner's address.  A short time later, Sota was stopped and taken into custody as he returned to the residence without incident.
