Man shot to death in Hopewell at apparent party

HOPEWELL, VA - On May 20, 2011 at approximately 2:26am, a Hopewell Police Officer heard and immediately responded to gunshots in the 2700 Block of Granby Street. As the officer quickly approached, several people outside the residence scattered in different directions.

Responding officers subsequently located a victim near a vehicle in the driveway of the residence with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds to his person. Medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and the victim was subsequently transported to the John Randolph Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Kirk Webb, Jr., a 24 year old male of the 4000 Block of Robert E. Lee Drive. Mr. Webb's remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy. The Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is in the initial stages of the investigation and believe that several people may have witnessed the argument and/or shooting.
