VCU Board votes to turn over parking lot

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU's Board of Visitors voted today to officially turn over a controversial parking lot to the City of Richmond.

A portion of the lot is said to be on top of a slave burial ground.

Today is the last day, VCU will allow cars to park there. It doesn't become city property until Monday night when the city council votes to accept the 2-acre site.

A ceremony will be held by the city Tuesday morning at 10:30 to remove the first pieces of asphalt, and then three local contractors will begin removing the asphalt free of charge.
