Security beefed up at bus stop again

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The mother accused of bringing a gun to her child's school bus stop has been accused of doing something similar before.

Police officers once again surrounded the students at the bus stop on Hackney and Brambleton, even though 33-year-old mom Shiquita Reed sits in jail.

Police car after police car lined up to make sure there was no drama.

Things went off without a hitch. No gun, and no blocked school bus.

Reed said she did it all because her daughter was being bullied.

The Times-Dispatch is reporting that Reed was charged just a year ago with showing a gun near a school in Richmond.

Then in 2006, she was charged with assault and battery... and grand larceny of a car in 2007.

All those charge was eventually dropped.

In 2009, Reed was sentenced to jail for 12 months after being found guilty of assault — but she didn't actually spend time in jail.

Reed is in jail now, after a judge denied her bond Thursday for five charges from showing the gun to the kids at the Chesterfield bus stop on Monday.
