Fan salon hit by vandals

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Satanic and religious symbols are plastered across businesses and apartment buildings in the Fan. The employees at Nirvana Salon and Spa saw the graffiti when they came to work this morning. This is near West Cary and Lombardy Streets.

The owners don't want to wrongfully accuse anyone, but this is an area where a lot of college students pass by every day. The owners are tired of cleaning up the graffiti because it's costing their business money.

Stylists at this Fan salon were visited overnight by a client they did not want. Someone vandalized their building, stealing property and leaving graffiti on their building and others nearby, and it's not the first time.

"They throw bricks at the windows," said owner, Danny Smith. "They constantly kick down our sidewalk signs and things like that, destroy property."

Inside the up-scale salon, you'd never know there was even a problem today. But behind the building and several others the damage was clearly evident, including satanic symbols.  But what was most disturbing were the words tagged on the building's back door letting them know that someone is always watching.

"So that makes you very uncomfortable in your business when someone comes to your business and writes something on your business," said co-owner, Glennis Crosby.

"We're already in the process of putting cameras up outside," said Smith.

Crosby and her business partner plan to work with the neighboring businesses in hopes of catching the person responsible. In the meantime, she had this message for the vandals still on the loose.

"Please stop it! (laughs) It's just not very nice!" said Crosby.

The salon owners have spent nearly $1,000 out of pocket to repair the damages. If you know anything about this incident, contact Richmond Police.
