Wrong-way driver to spend 8 years in prison

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - The man who caused a crash while driving the wrong way on Interstate 295 in Hanover County has been sentenced to more than 8 years in prison.

Nicholas Sickal, 20, pled guilty to aggravated involuntary manslaughter and maiming.

The December 2009 crash killed a Norfolk man and seriously injured the man's 8-year-old daughter.

The judge handed Sickal a 25-year term, but suspended nearly 17 years of that sentence.
