Thomas Dale students charged after assault

Press release from Chesterfield County Police

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County Police charged two teens at Thomas Dale High School with assault last week following the investigation into an alleged bias-motivated incident.

Police received information that a student was assaulted on May 11 by two other students at an after-school activity. The victim reported that the suspects grabbed him and attempted to put a rope around his neck. The victim's parent reported the incident to school officials and police.

Upon completion of the investigation, police charged a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male each with one count of simple assault. Police are consulting with the Chesterfield County Commonwealth's Attorney to determine if any additional charges need to be placed because of the nature of the crime. The victim, who is 14 years old, did not sustain any injury as a result of this incident.
