Man shot when gun accidentally goes off

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Henrico man is in the hospital this morning after a strange shooting at a drive-thru in Short Pump.

The shooting happened late Monday night at the Taco Bell in the 11000 block of West Broad Street.

That's near the Wal-mart between John Rolfe Parkway and Pouncey Tract Road.

Police say a man in his 20's got in the drive-thru line, and before he could place his order, the gun he had in his car, went off.

The man was hit, and called 911. No one else was hurt.

The man is in the hospital right now and is expected to be okay.

The man did have a permit to carry the gun.

According to police since the shooting was accidental there won't be any charges.
