RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Jarred Guest put off Shaka Smart for three weeks. But the power forward recruit from Columbia, South Carolina made it official on Wednesday. He's coming to VCU.
Smart visited Guest at his home on April 21st and formally offered Guest the team's final scholarship. Wednesday Guest put his name on the dotted line.
Last year Guest played at Charis Prep in North Carolina, leading them to a national prep championship. Guest averaged 16.8 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game last season. Prior to that, he played at Richland Northeast High School.
Guest, who drew interest from Georgia, Maryland, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma State and many others, is a 6-8, 200-pound forward who gives the Black & Gold valuable depth at the position.
Guest rounds out a recruiting class that includes Teddy Okereafor (Christchurch School – Christchurch, VA.), Briante Weber (Great Bridge – Chesapeake, VA.) and Treveon Graham (St. Mary's Ryken – Washington, D.C.)
