Man shot 3 times in Hopewell; police seek suspects

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Thursday night at approximately 7:19 p.m., Hopewell Police Telecommunications received a telephone call from a citizen, advising that multiple gunshots were heard in the Thomas Rolfe Court area.

Shortly after a second telephone call was received from an area hospital that a male victim had just arrived with multiple gunshots wounds. Hopewell Police Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to the area of Thomas Rolfe Court and the hospital.

The initial investigation has determined that the adult male victim had an altercation in the 100 block of South 7th Avenue in Hopewell, with a male offender(s) that escalated with the offender discharging a handgun multiple times striking the victim.

The offender(s) then fled the area. The victim was then transported to an area hospital in his vehicle by an acquaintance for medical treatment. The victim's vehicle was recovered abandoned in the 400 block of East Broadway a short time later.

A gold colored SUV style vehicle was seen leaving the area of the 100 block of South 7th Avenue, shortly after the shooting. The victim is presently being treated in an area hospital and is in stable condition, with three gunshots wounds.
