CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A memorial is being held Thursday to honor a Chesterfield teen killed in a car accident over the weekend.
Avery Spence, 17, was killed Sunday when the van she was riding in crashed in Nottoway County.
Spence was a senior at Manchester High School, with plans to attend Virginia Tech in the fall.
As you might imagine, it's been a tough week for the Manchester community.
Earlier this week, students turned Avery's parking spot into a memorial and wore her favorite colors — tie-dye and teal — to honor her.
Spence was remembered as bright, well-liked, and kind to everyone.
Over the weekend, she and five teens from Cosby High School were driving through Nottoway County — all becoming victims of a rollover crash.
Police say, neither speed or alcohol played a role. Spence is the only one who died.
No doubt there will be a large turnout at the memorial service, which starts at 10 a.m. at the Clover Hill Assembly of God, 12310 Bailey Bridge Road.
Condolences have been pouring in on the guest book linked to Avery's obituary.
Her father Paul writes, "Avery was a strong young lady and would be so proud of her dear friends and family who have come together in the past few days to give each other strength."
