PRINCE GEORGE, VA (WWBT) - Rolls-Royce officially opened its first plant in Prince George County Monday morning.
The 180,000 square-foot factory was originally going to make parts for corporate jet engines.
But when the market for corporate jets declined in the recession, Rolls-Royce decided instead to make engine components for commercial airliners.
The Crosspointe Rotatives Facility on Wells Station Road will eventually include a second plant and a research campus.
The company has started hiring and hopes to fill 500 new jobs over the next few years.
