RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Families of 9/11 victims feel vindication this morning, knowing Osama bin Laden is dead, but so does a group of other Americans.
Bin Laden was blamed for the bombing of the USS Cole back in October 2000.
A bomb exploded on the ship during a re-fueling operation at a port in Yemen. Bin Laden was linked to the deaths of 17 U.S. sailors.
Commander Kirk Lippold, the commander in charge of the ship on that fateful day explains what this means for America's war on terror, "I think this is a great day for America and a great day for my crew and those families."
Lippold says this turn of events speaks to the determination of the U.S., "Obviously, my thoughts and prayers go out to them, but clearly this shows the united states will be relentless in its pursuit of enemies who wish to do our nation harm."
