CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield police are closing in on the men wanted for last Saturday's murder. Two arrests in two days. 21-year-old Jermon Jones turned himself over to police. This news--- putting people in that Chester neighborhood at ease, but the accused triggerman, still on the run tonight.

The manhunt for 21-year-old William Timothy Walker continues. Some people hope that arrest comes before 13-year-old Devin Hawkins is laid to rest Saturday.

13-year-old Devin Hawkins...the Chester neighborhood kid who everyone knew.

"He's a great kid. Beautiful kid," said Vivian Brathwaite. "Very pleasant. He will be missed greatly."

Father Vivian Brathwaite is heartbroken. He had to explain to his young daughter why she will no longer see her friend.

"That's an innocent 13-year-old kid. He didn't deserve that," said Brathwaite.

Around 10:30 Saturday night, police say Devin and a 17-year-old were shot on Timsberry Terrace. Neighbors tell us Devin was shot as he was running home.

Court papers describe the gut-wrenching, final moments for the 13-year-old. Devin, shot in the back...stumbled home. His last breath in his front yard. Two crosses on the sidewalk, a symbol of the life lost.

Police say Devin caught in the cross fire. They say William Walker, the triggerman, aimed for the 17-year-old who is recovering from a blow to the leg.

"I have five kids and I don't know what I would do if one of my kids were caught in the crossfire," said concerned neighbor Alfred Hart.

As Alfred Hart, buckles in his girls. He's glad to know two men: Jermaine Powell and Jermon Jones were arrested.

Jones is charged with helping Walker after the shooting, both men for participating in a gang. Police are mum about which gang, but investigators searched for anything black and red.

This father now praying for safer community, and that William Walker will be caught.

"Eventually he's going to get caught because God has his way of bringing people to justice," Hart said.

Police need information on William Walker's whereabouts. If you can help, make an anonymous tip to Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

Funeral arrangements are set for Devin Hawkins. A viewing will be held Friday night from 6-8 p.m. at Bland Funeral Home. The funeral is Saturday at 3 p.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, both in Petersburg. The services are open to the public.
