RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - New information about several deaths and injuries following a possible tornado in Washington County's Glade Spring area in southwest Virginia.
The Washington County sheriff's office said this is the worst disaster they have ever dealt with in the area. Seven people are dead and more than 30 people are injured.
A number of those deaths happened at an apartment complex in Glade Spring, which is located at exit 29 off Interstate 81.
Emergency crews from a number of surrounding counties are there right now.
There's a truck stop at exit 29 — the winds were so heavy, a number of tractor trailers overturned.
The damage and most of the deaths and injuries seem to be in several trailer parks in that area.
One source has reported hearing at least three people are missing and the truck stop in that area looked like it had "blown up."
We will keep you posted as we learn more.
