HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Police are investigating a deadly mystery in Hopewell.
A body was found near a business Monday in the 5200 block of Oaklawn Boulevard.
There's no word on the person's identity or cause of death. Investigators are hoping an autopsy will determine that.
According to the release from Hopewell Police:
On April 25, 2011 at approximately 1621 hours, officers of the Uniformed Patrol Division (UPD) responded to the 5200 block of Oaklawn Blvd. in reference to a suspicious person call for service.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male in an area adjacent to the business. Emergency medical personnel were subsequently dispatched to the scene and determined the subject was deceased.
Members of the Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the scene and initiated an investigation of the matter. The decedent was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy to determine cause of death. The Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is currently investigating this matter as a Death Investigation. The identity of the decedent is not being released pending notification of the next-of-kin. Further information/updates will be released as they become available.
