Richmond deputy sheriff charged with two felonies

RICHMOND, VA - Sheriff C.T. Woody, Jr. today confirmed the arrest of a Richmond City Deputy Sheriff this past week by the Henrico County Police Department.

Deputy Aaron L. Clevert, 21, of the 5000 block of Willows Green Road in Glen Allen, was arrested Friday by the Henrico County Police Department on two felony warrants for indecent liberties with a minor.  Deputy Clevert was released on his own recognizance.

On April 21st, at 6:40 p.m., officers responded to the 11400 block of West Broad Street in reference to a suspicious situation.  It was reported by two 14 year old females that as they walked on the lot, several subjects were standing by their vehicles.  In an attempt to get their attention, Clevert began blowing his horn and yelled at them several times that he was going to rape them.

He was charged with taking indecent liberties with children.

Sheriff Woody said, "Although this incident occurred while Deputy Clevert was off-duty, the alleged behavior displayed by him is not the type of behavior we expect from our employees. It is unfortunate this incident occurred, however, Deputy Clevert is presumed innocent until proven guilty."

He has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the charges in Henrico County.   Because of the on-going administrative investigation and the sensitive nature of the alleged offenses, no additional comments will be made by the Sheriff or his staff.
