Amtrak train hits man in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A man struck by an Amtrak train Thursday night is expected to survive.

Police say the unidentified man stepped in front of the passenger train near Oliver Hill Drive and O Street near the Leigh Street Bridge, shortly before 6 p.m.

Train operators immediately called 911 -- one worker even jumped off the train and flagged down a passing police car.

We're told the man, reportedly in his late 40s, is recovering at VCU Medical Center.
